On 11 January President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with representatives of the Board of the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia (FICIL) Zlata Elksniņa-Zaščirinska and Reinhold Schneider at the Riga Castle. During the meeting, the parties discussed human capital development and labour availability in Latvia, energy policy and the efficiency of public administration.
The President expressed gratitude to the Foreign Investors’ Council for their constructive work and valuable contribution to improving the business environment in Latvia.
“I highly value the joint agreement between the Government and the Council of Foreign Investors’ in Latvia on the tasks to be undertaken to attract new foreign companies to Latvia and enable the expansion of existing ones. Certainly, there is still much to be done, including improving the legal environment, reducing bureaucracy and the shadow economy, investing in human capital and education, as well as transitioning towards energy independence and a developed digital economy,” said E. Rinkēvičs.
FICIL has previously published position papers, offering recommendations on human capital, efficiency of public administration, sustainable development, rule of law, and level playing field.
