Latvia’s newly elected Members of the European Parliament (MEP) are preparing for their upcoming roles. Before heading to Brussels, on 27th August 2024, FICIL and its partners will convene with the new MEPs to discuss key issues related to anti-corruption and good governance, ensuring effective representation of Latvian interests in the European Parliament over the next five years. 

The event is organised by the Foreing Investors Council in Latvia (FICIL), the association “Sabiedrība par atklātību – Delna”, association the Latvian Civic Alliance, the public policy center PROVIDUS. During the event FICIL Board Member and Senior Partner at Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns, Māris Vainovskis and FICIL Executive Director, Tatjana Guzņajeva will introduce principles of good governance aimed at promoting investment and enhancing the business environment in Latvia. Meanwhile, “Delna” will provide an overview of integrity challenges faced by EU institutions and shortcomings in lobbying regulations. The Latvian Civic Alliance and PROVIDUS will explain the scope and impact of two new EU directives on civil society development in Latvia and other EU countries. 

Following presentations of the organisers, there will be a discussion on the priorities for the European Parliament over the next five years, with a focus on Latvia’s interests in combating corruption and promoting good governance. 

The event will be held in Latvian and will be open to the public, following the registration procedure.
