Prime Minister Krišjanis Karins met with the newly elected Board of the Foreign investors Council in Latvia (FICIL) today, April 5, to discuss the Government’s planned actions and solutions for faster revitalisation of economic transformation.
Zlata Elksniņa-Zaščirinska, Chairperson of the FICIL Board, informed the Prime minister that FICIL has evaluated and prepared proposals for the State Chancellery’s draft State Administration Modernisation Plan 2023-2027. Mrs Elksniņa-Zaščirinska pointed out that one of the prerequisites for the implementation of economic transformation is a strong and competent public administration, therefore FICIL is interested in the improvement and successful implementation of the public sector modernisation plan. FICIL Board member Māris Vainovskis also highlighted issues identified in public procurement process and how this can negatively affect fair competition and the investment climate in Latvia.
Also during the meeting, the Prime Minister and FICIL board members discussed the Government’s plans to strengthen national security and energy independence, development of human capital policy, management of state-owned enterprises and combating shadow economy.
Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins thanked FICIL board members for their proposals and expressed hope for constructive dialogue in the future.
